Education Qualification as on 31-12-2026
- For Secondary Level (Class 9th to 10th), candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks along with a B.Ed. qualification.
- For Senior Secondary Level (Class 11th to 12th), candidates should have a Post Graduate (PG) Degree in the relevant subject with Second Division along with a B.Ed. qualification.
- B.Ed. is not mandatory for candidates applying for the Computer Science subject.
- Candidates belonging to SC, ST, EBC, BC and Divyang categories will receive up to 5% relaxation in the required marks.
- The required degree must be obtained from a UGC/NC TE-recognized institution or university.
- Candidates from other states, irrespective of their category, will be considered under the General Category for age and qualification-related benefits.
- Applicants must be citizens of India.
Bihar STET 2026: Paper & Subject Wise Qualification
Paper I – Secondary Level (Classes 9th–10th)
- General Subjects (Code 101–112): Hindi (101), Urdu (102), Bangla (103), Maithili (104), Sanskrit (105), Arabic (106), Persian (107), Bhojpuri (108), English (109), Mathematics (110), Science (111) and Social Science (112).
- General Subjects – Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks along with B.Ed. from an NCTE-recognized institution. Candidates meeting the applicable NCTE norms with 45% marks in Graduation/PG along with B.Ed. may also be eligible. A 4-Year Integrated B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed. in the relevant subject is also accepted.
- Physical Education (Code 113): Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) or Graduation with Physical Education as an elective subject and minimum 50% marks. The required marks are 45% for candidates having national or inter-university level sports participation/coaching.
- Music Teacher (Code 114): Bachelor’s Degree in Music (B.Mus.) or an equivalent qualification with at least 50% marks from a recognized University/Board.
- Fine Arts Teacher (Code 115): Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts (B.F.A.) or equivalent qualification with minimum 50% marks from a recognized University/Board.
- Dance Teacher (Code 116): Bachelor’s Degree in Dance or an equivalent qualification with at least 50% marks from a recognized University/Board.
- Special Education Teacher: Graduation with minimum 50% marks along with B.Ed. in Special Education, having a valid CRR registration with RCI, plus 6 months of teaching training in Cross Disability.
Paper II – Higher Secondary Level (Classes 11th–12th)
- General Subjects (Code 201–224 & 229): Hindi (201), Urdu (202), English (203), Sanskrit (204), Bangla (205), Maithili (206), Magahi (207), Arabic (208), Persian (209), Bhojpuri (210), Pali (211), Prakrit (212), Mathematics (213), Physics (214), Chemistry (215), Zoology (216), History (217), Geography (218), Political Science (219), Sociology (220), Economics (221), Philosophy (222), Psychology (223), Home Science (224) and Botany (229).
- General Subjects – Qualification: Post Graduate Degree in the concerned subject with minimum 50% marks along with B.Ed. from an NCTE-recognized institution. Candidates qualifying under applicable NCTE norms with 45% marks in PG along with B.Ed. may also be eligible. B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed. or PG with 55% marks along with a 3-Year Integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. qualification is also mentioned as an eligible route.
- Commerce (Code 225): Master’s Degree (M.Com.) in Commerce with minimum 50% marks along with B.Ed. Eligible areas include Entrepreneurship (EPS), Accountancy and Business Studies. M.Com. in Applied/Business Economics is not considered eligible.
- Computer Science (Code 226): Eligible qualifications include DOEACC ‘A’ Level with Master’s Degree, B.E./B.Tech. in Computer Science/IT, B.E./B.Tech. in any stream with a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer, M.Sc. (CS), MCA, B.Sc. (CS), BCA with Post Graduate Degree in any subject, or DOEACC ‘B’/’C’ Level with Graduation/PG.
- Computer Science – Important: B.Ed. qualification is not compulsory for candidates applying for Computer Science.
- Agriculture (Code 227): Graduation in Agriculture/Horticulture with minimum 50% marks along with a Master’s Degree in any of the specified areas such as Agronomy, Plant Breeding & Genetics, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Seed Science & Technology, Soil Science or Horticulture.
- Music Teacher (Code 228): Master’s Degree (M.Mus.) in Music Education or equivalent qualification with minimum 50% marks from a recognized University/Board.
